New Bread

As ancient as man himself
From simple grain and water
Came the food of earthly life
The basic physical sustenance
Converted from raw elements
Into something wholesome
Something greater than it’s consist
Something intended, not accidental
Yet throughout biblical history
The most powerful symbol
Of an earthly component
Acted on by the divine
And offered back in sacrifice
As by the priest Melchizedech
Became an instrument used by the divine
The simplest used by the greatest
Chosen as a most comprehensible material
To explain and demonstrate His power
The power to transform and to create
The power of His love
This very earthly material changed
In its absolute substance no longer bread
Not just symbol or sign but changed
Not just representation or remembrance
But into the incomprehensible
The miracle incredible bringing eternal life
His real presence; Himself
The creator of all present
In His body, blood, soul and divinity
As He promised
That He would remain with us
In loving presence until the end of days
