The Call

After I have exhaled fully

Occurs a short moment of suspense

A small slice of time between

Between one breath and the next

A time of suspenseful pause

About which I never think

A time unconsciously happening

Solely because of His will

I depend on Him totally

To restart my life’s process

Thousands of times per day

With a two second pause of trust

Two seconds of special dependency on His will

Whether to continue my life or not

Thousands of two second pauses daily

Placing m next breath in God’s hands in a special way

In total dependence and unthinking hope

For my next breath is in His hands

Thousands of opportunities a day to think of Him

Quickly to utter a prayer of thanks

And to ponder the call...Come, follow Me, He said

In the quiet of my tween breath times

A thousand times per day

In what I do and what I say

And in a blink of my eye

A moment to refresh my sight

When closed and darkened

For even that  moment

Go forth and make disciples of all nations

I will make you fishers of men He said

Fishers of Men? Me?
