ANNUNCIATION
As my lifetime’s
clock ticks on
The relentless searching continues
Hour by hour, day after day unwinding
The longing for completion, yet for newness
In limited time, longing during my
short stay
Yet empty I must be to be filled full
And ready to receive His grace
Open to not my plan but His will
Searching on empty for what I need
Not mine, but His for my soul to fill
As our sweet Lady Immaculate
In her time of expectation for other
lifeways
Heard the call in her innocence
From the Angel God had sent
And said yes, I am open to His grace
In the quiet roar of life’s diversion I
must listen
Through my mind’s noise and
distraction
Moving it aside, searching for the
silence
The calm I need after inner storm
To truly hear, for His love’s call to consider
Is my heart open? Is it open wide?
Releasing the fears that fill inside
With welcoming tears of sudden joy
To share in His pain and in sweet
sorrow
Yet filled again with happy cries
deploy
Unencumbered I listen, I must
In His will forever like Her so trust
In His will until He comes again
Through His angel sent to foretell
The coming Jesus, eternal God-friend
For, from arms wide spread He reaches
To draw all to His own
From His cross of my making
To announce warm welcome to His home
He offers this to all in love for my
taking
Help me listen profoundly for His
annunciation
That time when His angel so speaks to
me
Of what I must accept to truly be
And places on my heart’s clear wall
His message, so revealing His plan for
me
As He then awaits my response to His
call
