I give you thanks for the gifts I have

And will not envy what I lack

For life is for living and using gifts well

Until Jesus calls me to give it back.

Its a time for gifts and memories dear

For good food and good friends

A time to visit and spread good cheer

Spreading best wishes that never end

I think of those I love who are near

And those near but so far away

And wish it could be like today always

That friends would never go away

I think of those who are without homes

And lonely, without friends today

With nothing to wear or to eat like me

Nor any love coming their way

Turkey and ham and all things nice

Are served with warmth and grace today

A special feast to enjoy with each other

Breaking bread together we pray

Thank You Lord for my life and my friends

On Your special birthday we gather together

In gratitude for Your coming as the Gift

And showing us the way back to forever
