Seeking Him

Why am I seeking

Is it to really find Him?

When I seek to find my reason

Is it He who I find within?

Do I seek Him

To fulfill my wants and needs

For my purpose or for His

And look always to Him

For what I feel I need to live?

Or do I seek Him and trust

Not in what I want

But in what He gives?

Do I seek Him

Because of what I have received

Or have I been seeking Him all along

Out of longing, out of wanting

To be where I belong?

As I seek Him

Do I find Him in myself

And find myself in Him?

Do I find Him in my neighbor’s face

And find my neighbor’s face in Him?

Do I seek with my heart open

And search only with my eyes

Have I emptied myself out

So I am ready to be filled?

I seek You Lord to complete my life

And so I am found, never lost

Held close always by Your love

As I place my hope in You
