There’s
A Whisper
Deep in the synchronous tomes of the
country night
If I listen closely, beyond the steady
rhythm of my breath
In the ever so soft movement of night
breezes
Swaying only the very tips of the
highest branches
There’s a whisper
Heard if I open my heart and listen
A call sent straight to my heart
In the undulating waves and breaks of tall
grass
Gently moved by a breath so gentle,
unseen
Movement starting from a place unknown
Heading to the near horizon
There’s a whisper
Heard if I open my heart and listen
A call sent straight to my heart
As the skybird
soars up steep hillsides and down deep valleys
Circling, lifted by columns rising,
falling, shifting
Warmed by the sun in the silence of
the sky
White billows form and pass gently by,
in silent roar
There’s a whisper
Heard if I open my heart and listen
A call sent straight to my heart
In the glasslike sheen of a lake at
sleep
Smooth stillness, only broken by the
nightfly’s gentle touch
Its real depth hidden by its dark
surface mirror
Reflecting, sharing, the golden
moonlight gift
There’s a whisper
Heard if I open my heart and listen
A call sent straight to my heart
Standing very still, I lift up my closed
eyes
Clearing my senses, opening my heart
It’s there, the whisper, His breath of
life
Calling me home to His loving arms
To be with Him and never again apart
