Flowering Forth
Last fall I fell to the ground
And under layers of life’s cold dead leaves
I lie suspended, it seemed forever lost
Packed tight by winters snowy blanket
I’d been kept anxiously waiting
Throughout the winter months
Dormant, seemingly lacking life at all
Yet with the thaw of spring
The rains bring nutrients to seep in
And the sun brings warmth to the soil around me
As I feel the stir of life begin
I can’t help but want for more
I now reach upward, breaking the surface above
Stretching and opening myself to sunlight
Finding my color to show all and to flower forth
Now that I am filled with new life
So too have we have spent a winter submerged
Waiting, longing, in the cold of loneliness
Praying for the warmth of His grace
To fill us up and bring us new life
That we might break forth from darkness
With joy reaching unto Him in thanksgiving
And opening our hearts wide to all
To inspire with the color of love
To attract with the fragrance of grace
That all may see the beauty of Him not us
In how we rise above, flower and bear fruit
According to His plan
