How Do I Love?

I pray deeply and yet still wonder

As I look as my life and my words

Is it for myself that I give love?

Do I give that I might receive?

Do I love as in His words I’ve heard?

Do I love

In the way He has shown me

Through His life and in what He said?

Do I love others as I love myself,

Or rather something less?

Love of my heart or with only my head?

Is my love from deep within,

Where my mind and heart abide together

Alive with love because of my soul?

Or is my love from my surface, shallow

Without depth or commitment

If I love as He taught us to love

With limitless bounds as we love ourselves

Then I’ll love as Him, with Him

And through my love I’ll bring Him

For He is love

Do I reach out with my love to share?

With those I choose, in places I know

Or do I reach out, spreading His word afar

Bringing His love to neighbors & strangers

Without limits or question wherever I go?

I pray

That I may love selflessly,

Love without bounds of time or place

Without limitation of person and in places known

That I may give love and be love to others

Totally given of myself as He has shown
