Your Call To Love

In the ever more pressurized world in which I live

I am pulled, pushed and shoved off the right path

Yet no matter how often or how far

I have a way back, because I know that

Forever I remain in Your love

When I find it hard to be patient and wait

And in times of trial and test

I am always assured of Your plan

There is reason beyond my knowing, and comfort that

Forever I remain in Your love

When I have left You and looked afar

For others and mere things to believe in

Rather than cling to You, I still long for return

But I know that no matter what I have done,

Forever I remain in Your love

At times I have heard your command

At other times I refused to listen

And thought only of myself and my desires

Avoiding my neighbor’s needs and Your call

To simply love one another

How bold I have been from time to time

Thinking that I am in control

Thinking that I can decide who and when to love

And how to live Your command,

To simply love one another

For I am not in control, and never have been

Yet with my free will I try over and over

To control my life, my work, my friends, my loves

I can not control, but only choose; then listen and follow

Because it is You who have chosen me

Thank You Lord for the gift of Your love

My life is in Your hands

For I have not chosen You Who gives me life

In Your great love, You have chosen me

And all you have asked is

That I love others, as You have loved me
