What Now

I’ve studied and expanded my knowledge

Of the teachings and doctrines of faith

Listened hard to Your revealed Word

And heard Paul say: “run the good race”

I’ve set aside time; spent it praying

Striving to get closer to You

As Your child to be near Your heart always

In all that I say and I do

I’ve looked deep into my soul now

Bringing all forward which blocks

All that separates me from Your love

Ready to answer when You knock

I’ve returned from the distance

To ask humbly to be forgiven

For all that has pulled me away

For rejecting gifts I’ve been given

I’ve looked for Your face

As You taught, in each person

Those You’ve have placed in my path

For only You know the reason

And so I look for “what now”

And find it in every good reason

Called to live; to be Your light

To become Your holy beacon

Starting now a new day I see that

The “What” is clearly Your person

“Now” to be lived out loud, by me, to others

In every hour, day, and season

For the “what now” is stated so clearly

In Your clear call to “follow me”

“Do this and You shall live” You said

And give all to my needy neighbor

To become all You want me to be
