Lead My Feet In Your Way

On these two feet I have stood

Upright from the start

Standing up and looking out

Fighting for balance and heart

Walking forward, falling back

Leaning into the wind of life

Focused on His Holy face

Walking Onward in His name

On these two feet

I’ve been carried, all my days

From when I first stood

To where I am today

They have moved me forward

Heading me toward right goals

And sometimes away

Choices hurting my soul

On these two feet I’ve walked my days

As did You not so long ago

I have used these limbs so many times

On the path as You have led

Hold my hand, lead me home

For away from You I have been led

Walking down the wrong dark road

Gathering the dust of wrong ways

My feet, thick and soiled, sins of my years

Yet You kneel even now to wash my feet

To remove forever all of my fears

The King of creation, The Lord above

My feet in Your hand, toweling dry

Making clean my soul with tears of Your love

This servant’s love You showed us I must try

You’ve shown that a servant to all I must be

My feet are washed clean and new life begins

May I kneel at the foot of my brother today

Whom I’ve wronged and who’s felt my sins

Holding his feet in my unworthy hand

I must wash all this dust from him

As He’s shown us to do, so I must do too

With humble grace a new life begin

I must wash his feet as He did mine

Be his humble servant starting today

Serving as He did, in His act of pure love

My Lord servant King came to save
