Letting Go
ItŐs a typically crisp and cold early March morning
As I scrape the thin morning coating of white frost off my windows
Frozen breath reminds me that although spring is close, itŐs not yet
here
It seems that the frosty white coating on the grass is here to remind me
That the cold blanket of winter chill on life is reticent to leave
Day after day, morning after morning, keeping fast its icy grip
Holding on till the last to its frost and chill
Yet biding their time just below the surface are the sleeping bulbs of
new life
Waiting for just the right moment to shoot through and reach for the
light
In their way announcing to the world that the time has come
Yet soon today the grip of winter chill will relent and milder times
creep in
For a few hours, a taste fulfilling my dreams of spring
Lord bring the springtime of Your love to my
heart
Help me break through the icy veneer of despair and bud forth with new
life
Help me to loose the grip of all that is cold in my heart, all that
binds me
As in Your wisdom you bring the warmth of Your
love, transforming all
Help me transform too and let go of all the winter things that hold me
fast
Melt away all that keeps me from feeling Your
love
Warm my soul with the bright light of new hope
And thaw the chill of being apart from You
For even a moment
