My Eyes

With my eyes

Do I see my neighbor as a child of God

Or do I blindly judge and categorize everyone

Do I see other’s pain and suffering

Or am I focused only on myself

With my eyes

Do I see goodness in everyone I meet

Or do I blindly see only others’ weaknesses

Do I see opportunities to help

Or am I blinded by my own priorities

With my eyes

Do I look beyond brokenness to hope

Or do I look down in despair

Do I see other’s misfortune with eyes of care

Or am I lost in my own reflection

With my eyes

Do I see opportunities to help others in need

Or do I look down or away

Do I see the gifts others have and celebrate

Or do I watch with eyes of envy

With my eyes

Do I see the hand of God in all creation

Or do I focus solely on my goals

Do I see the beauty of His presence in all things

Or do look casually at grace and take it for granted

Help me to see

Your goodness in everything

My neighbor through eyes of love

The wisdom of Your creation

Life’s trials with eyes of hope

You always and everywhere clearly

And not be blind to Your will

For I was blind but now I see
