Season of Refreshment

Another season, another reason

To look forward, to anticipate

I soar into the September sky

Into the deep azure blue as late

The cool of night giving way

To a bright brisk morn today

As sunshine’s brilliant glow

Splits through branches in golden rays

By noon, the sun on high ablaze

Melts the fog of morning dew

Painted leaves, crunching footsteps

The warm, the fresh, the new

Nature readies her nap,

a time to renew

Of brisk air, the harvest, and bales of hay

Short days, long nights, and cool as I sleep

Bringing change of balance, night over day

Refresh me Lord, in the change of Your Season

Renewed rest and cool freshness to my life

Help focus my eyes on the glow of Your face

And warmth in Your loving eyes
