Springtime Hope
In the soft and cool rains of spring
Pooling, running and soaking the
ground
Making it supple, preparing the way
Rendering a safe place for new growth,
I see Your hand and find new hope
In the gentle movement from gray and
cool skies
Filled with the wind driven clouds of
winter
Still holding on to the last but
yielding soon
To the fresh blue and fluffy white of
sunny spring days
I see Your hand and find new hope
In the slow change of wind from north
to south
Bringing a dryness to the damp, warmth
to the chill
Preparing all to receive the seeds of
newness
Incubating and nurturing new life and growth
I see Your hand and find new hope
In the first sight of the red breasted
robin
Gathering small things to build his home
Listening, watching, for his food to
arise
Rewarded with feast for new life, then
for self
I see Your hand and find new hope
In the imperceptible sound and
undetectable movement
Of flower buds and grass reaching
upward
Stretching to receive what God
provides
Rewarded with brightness and rays of
life
I see Your hand and find new hope
In this time of emptying and Lenten
renewal
As I prepare the way of my heart,
emptying myself of self
Cleansing all, changing, sharing in
the giving of all
Joining You Jesus, in your passion,
death and resurrection
I reach for Your hand, always offered in
love
May this time of springtime renewal,
of healing
This time of letting go, of change and
new growth
Bring me closer to You Jesus than ever
before
That I may join You in Your
resurrection
A life reborn, holding Your hand and
living anew
