This Fall Day

Cool, damp mornings signal a swing into fall

Light white film covering grass and glass

All is changing but still stays the same

Seasons change but God’s will and beauty remain

Crisp leaves crunch underfoot

announcing their presence

Drifting down like feathers floating on wind

I look back on summer as a season gone

And forward to a winter not too long

Autumn moon glowing bright and low

A golden orb shining to light the night

I reach out to touch; it feels so near

Yet fleeting it leaves quickly this time of year

Cool me, refresh me with Your fall breeze

With a sunny fall day Lord give me strength

As summer’s heat begins to flicker and fade

I wrap myself in Your grace, Your embrace

I cover my hands against the cool north wind

And try to keep them warm and dry

Cover my hands with Your warming love

Help me through them to do Your will from above

This fall may Your cool breeze help me to focus

Clearly on things and people here and dear

And to thank You for the summers of my life

When to Your truth I grow closer every year.

Lift me up with the majesty of Your fall colors Lord

Thru which I see life’s true beauty within

Cool my worries, with Your fall breezes

And lift my heart, as a new season does begin
