Through the Grey

Through the grey of late winter into early spring

As naked branches reach for warmth and light

I look at my life in all its shadows and hues

And long for a return of Your colors into sight

The late winter chill still lingers night and morn

Awaiting mid afternoon, nature’s warming glow

To thaw the cold, to soothe my heart

To make all things new, and with life, grow

In the cold shadows of my doubt

In the fading greyness of my sometime days

I have questioned and wondered often

What light and love are in my ways

As the first birds of spring search and seek,

Are fed and nurtured, their families grow

So I look to the future with hope, and seek

To find a newness I long to know

Bring springtime color to my life oh Lord

End my seeking, feed me as I long

By Your grace bring comfort and hope

Help me begin anew to live and love

With Your love You fill all branches with life

Grey gives way to multicolored song

I warm my soul in the glow of Your grace

My longing is filled; with You I belong.
