An Advent Look

In the Advent times of my life
I look back to assess
All I have done and not done
And look for what needs repair
For what shouldn’t be there
For what should be undone
I look to better prepare
For what needs apology
And for what to make amends
And what needs my repentance
For what I need forgiveness
And what I need to forgive
In the Advent times of my life
I look forward with much joy
To a time of new birth
To a time of fulfilled promises
Amidst such seasonal mirth
To a time of new beginnings
To a life place of grace
A mere glimpse of our reward
In a time of joy and peace
A time of sharing and faith
A time of home and place
Open my heart Holy Spirit
That I be open to His love
Sent freely without bounds
From the One, the Word from above
