Today I just feel only sixteen times two

It spreads out with patience and blossoms with flowers

Bearing fruit with new life every May

Reaching out, our branches, they sprout on their own

Upward and sprouting they shoot

Our seedlings have left and found places to go

Starting new as they leave and take root

Our leaves have spread out and give shade to new growth

Coolness nurtures, new lives now abound

They take root and reach up, to the light, to our height

Reaching upward, their own roots, the same ground

Sixteen someday will make forty-eight years

And our love will keep growing so deep

Our lives are but one, so we have become

A gift for each other to keep

Our love has grown to be more than ourselves
