I Give and I Live

What I find is not my own

Things I lose are found unknown

Yet as I live I gather more

As though enough I can’t ignore

Keeping more I find the space

To pile and store and lock away

For what I wonder do I hold and keep

Expecting that always here I’ll stay?

Things and stuff and stacks enough

Of goods and flotsam everywhere

More and more saved and stored

Cluttering life, almost too much to bear

At times I have enough saved to live

But ne’er do then I think to give

So then miss a chance I do to love

Holding too tight, it’s never enough

What longing have I ever fulfilled

By keeping fleeting things to myself

I must give when given every chance

My life saved from off the shelf

For when I give I truly live

And see what things are sent here for

To share and love, returning to Him

Who for all I should thank and always adore

When I give I truly love

Like the life given to me from above

For when I love I live complete

Myself, my gift to Him replete

Help me give it all, till I have it all

Those things which tie and bind my soul

So that I may unburden my heavy load

And free myself; make me whole
