I
Reach for You
Reaching out to touch
Stretching myself, straining outward
Out from inside myself toward the One
Across the great distance I’ve created
Stretching as far as I can, almost
breaking
Until I can ever so slightly touch
That which I strive for so mightily
That which is seen from a distance
Looking out from my inside
Yet found so close at hand
Looking in from my outside
But my fingers, they brush and hardly
feel
A gentle touch only needed and I would
heal
And dream again of walking in the
light
Securely, walking in mission, yet not unchallenged
A feather light touch of care
And the depth of all offense is
broadly forgiven
But for the effort, but for the want
to change
Only a mere desire of heart in change
and His touch is given
Yet I need not reach far across some
valley of mind made
To touch, to find what I long for so
dearly
He is nearby, next to me in the
crowded day
And beside me as I love deep and
sincerely
Reaching out in faith in confidence
I reach out with His hands
And when I touch another it is His
love
That heals and comforts and guides
His hands, by mine being used
And when I reach out
for help He is there
Always, waiting, smiling, just for me
To be with me, to hold me close
And no matter what is done,
We’re never to be apart
O sweet and loving Lord I reach for You
With hands of care and heart on fire
And in my reaching You
find me
For you are already, and have always been there
