This Holy Night
The cold stillness of a Middle
Eastern winter night
Enveloped all in its majestic blue
velvet arms
With a dotted cloak of cosmic light
Like so many other nights before and
after
Yet so truly unlike any other
This holy night
From which time nothing would remain
unchanged
In it all prophecy would be fulfilled
All revelation complete
And the world would never since be the
same.
To those not nearby that holy night
seemed like all others
But to those blessed to witness this
night of all nights
The world began again anew
A new creation, life reborn and
renewed
In the light of all majesty,
The imponderable span of space and
time,
Beyond the expanse and grandeur of
all creation
The gates of heaven now opened
forever
By the little helpless child of an
earthly mother
The creator, self created
Until the end of time with us here forever
Then again forever in heaven
Emmanuel , God with us
