Return Another Way

Three wise men came from the east

Following a star, guiding their way

Not knowing to whom or to where

But to a place expected least

Carrying gifts representing them well

Brought to an unknown person and place

Bravely into foreign lands they went

Making a forever story to tell

Travelling through the desert night

To follow, to seek

To find and encounter the holy

Emerging from darkness to light

Upon reaching their wondrous goal

They encountered the child divine

Their lives then forever changed

Their longing and emptiness now whole

These men now wiser forever

Given new focus and purpose

Were changed for the better

And returned another way

So too I am called to follow

To yearn for the King

To journey following the light of Christ

And emerge from the darkness below

So too I am called

To risk life’s unknown deserts

To Him moving and trusting always

That once encountering His real presence

I surely must

Return to life Another Way
