My Emmaus

It’s been a week since we saw Him in the breaking of the bread

That evening He revealed Himself to Cleopas and I on the Emmaus road

And since we returned to Jerusalem and told this to the apostles

Our whole world has changed

From depression to joy

From disappointment to fulfillment

From doubt to faith

From loss to incredible gain

His death on the cross has become our new life

His burial has become our resurrection

His departure of His body has become His Real Presence

Through His resurrection His Word has become the Light

We now can speak of Him boldly without fear

We now call out His name with joy and love

We bring the good word to everyone we meet

And feel the Spirit within us

I’m astonished by the words we speak

For He has sent the Spirit

Who speaks through us

I’m amazed at the wonders He works at our hands

For His grace and love are with us until the end of days

Just as He promised

May I always praise His name by how I speak

May I always honor Him by how I live

May I always bring Him to all
