A New Day of Purpose

As I arise today in the fading darkness, the early morning grey begins to fade

Into to the bright yellow gold of a mid summer morning

Bright, blinding rays are breaking through the last of the mist,

Signaling yet another new and sunny day... another chance to live and to love

Somewhat the same as yesterday, but somewhat different really,

I feel a renewal, an ongoing and new refreshment and rebirth of holy energy

There’s a calm and sense of purpose enveloping me different from yesterday.

A change in how I look at life, a change in how I look at myself and others.

There’s a new respect, a new reverence, a new sense of purpose.

It runs and pulses through my thoughts, my emotions, my inner being.

In the mirror there is another type of me, a type more sensitive and aware

More dedicated to living outward, to reaching with open hands and arms

To connect, to feel deeper, to look beyond myself, outside my perimeter

.

As the morning glow grows into the radiance of the noontime sun,

Heating up even the coldest of hearts, of thoughts, of place; I feel Him close

One who feeds me and leads me; one who calls me and sends me

One who gives me purpose, His purpose, to live and love in His name

A transition, an embracing which I feel and which I crave for myself

Comes a desire to share myself and Him, and give myself to Him entirely

But there are so many, yet so few who need as I and are weak yet loved as I.

His love is tangible, and felt like the memory of my mother’s embrace

In the deep desert heat of the fiery sun-wrapped afternoon,

Rays of His love have penetrated deeper than before...

I am found in the burning heat of His loving desire for me, and I for Him

Yet like a seed needing the warmth of earth to grow, I am sown

To take root and grow toward Him, reaching upward and spreading wide

Opening up to His love, glorying in the shine of his nurturing rays of grace

I grow and bear the gifts I have been given, unwrapping them to share

Then, carried on the wind of His holy breath, the seed,

His gift is thus cast forth, spreading His Word to others through me

My purpose, His, to transform, to grow and bear His fruit

To open my heart to His will, to live and grow as he intends

To spread the seeds of the fruit I have borne, His seed of love

Carried by the cool evening breeze of His grace

Spreading to all who have been planted here in His earthly garden

In his care, watered by His love, and asked only to flower forth

To reflect and return His radiant beauty
