Come the Light
As I watch,
The deep distinct shadows of night
begin to give way
To the soft graying haze of an early
day sheen
Light-time focus changing from night
to day’s beginning
Neither dark nor light but in between
And as I wait,
A soft golden glow slowly lights up the
eastern sky
Turning brighter and yellowish toward
white
Rolling bright morning glow over all the
land west
As a fresh coat morning light accents
and renews my sight
Joy fills my heart as,
A cloud-through beam streaks into a
flood of brightness
Turning on a sunlit bronze colored sky
Holding promise of things new, things
warm again
Things renewed for yet another try
Now begins this day
Not here from yesterday or a forecast
of tomorrow
But another day, another chance,
another gift
Lifting my face to soak in the
radiance
My spirits are refreshed and begin to
lift
I celebrate this gift
Not deserved, or owed, or due in any
way
Renewal, fulfilling my deepest need
For things new, for things renewed
Warming my soil, bringing life to
inner seed
Freely given
Daylight for me to use as I wish, at
my will
Sent to me from His goodness and might
To bring its warmth and golden glow
To love as I live, to share today his
light
For me now to use
Glowing with His love thus I am called
It shines and bursts forth as I open my
heart
To bring His peace and brightness to
life
In what I do and how His light I
impart
By sharing His light
sent
My change is illuminated today
Not looking back to yesterday
But renewing my soul and my life
Bringing into the darkness of this
world
Not mine but His gift, His life, His
light
