My Amen

In the din of daily life
Under the press of strife
When I am cornered
And critically disturbed
Not knowing what is next
Having to take a deep breath
Before plunging into the unknown
I long for peace and release
From these heavy burdens
 
 I carry them in to this place of faith
To this family gathering
To this altar of sacrifice
To this table of feast
To this throne of the divine
Bringing my Amen
As I kneel to witness the miracle
Where His presence becomes real
And the light of His grace shines
 
With all awe and wonder
I go forward to receive Him
Love, given for all and all time
And once again welcome Him in
And with my Amen
Fully accept His invitation
To join in sacramental communion
And no longer live alone
But I in Him and He in me
