Of Bread and Wine
In my humble and unworthy shoes
I stand before You my God
Ready to receive the inconceivable
Ready to believe the unbelievable
Upon my unworthy hands and tongue
Hands that have done good and evil
Tongue that has built up and torn down
Now washed clean with your forgiveness
Ready to receive in my unworthiness
The eternal gift of love...You, my God
 
I simply can not comprehend
The depth and breadth of Your love
The wonder of Your gift given freely
In the appearance of simple elements
Recognizable as cloud and fire were
To the ancient Hebrews of the Exodus
We recognize in the bread and wine
The sustaining elements of life itself
Your Body and Blood fully present
 
It is in the breaking of this bread
That I recognize You Lord
What amazing miracle, what joy!
This gift of divine and generous origin
Creator giving self to His created
Fulfilling my longing and needs
Nourishing me with eternal food
Filling me with Your grace and blessing
That I may bring Your love to the world
